Figure Piping

Learn basic buttercream figure piping to achieve all kinds of shapes and designs on your cakes. Do piping for some of the other holidays: learn masks for Mardi Gras, fireworks for the Fourth of July, Graduation ideas, cute animals for Rodeo and little bugs for Spring, and some things for the other times of the year. Learn different techniques and tricks that work great on cakes. Need a fast baby shower or wedding shower cake? Oh so easy and cute!. Lots of quick and simple designs will be shown in class.

2 recipes of Susie's Buttercream icing
Practice board (could be a contact covered cardboard)
Spatulas
Decorating bags--- parchment, disposable, or featherweight
Couplers at least 2
Towels
Apron
Scissors
Trash bag
Camera optional
Sweater if you get cold
Susie's buttercream icing
2 pounds of powdered sugar 1 cup Crisco shortening
½ teaspoon clear vanilla ½ cup water
½ teaspoon butter flavoring ½ teaspoon extract
Put everything in bowl and mix for a few minutes. Scrape down bowl and then mix icing on high speed for 7 - 10 minutes until the mixture lightens in color and rises in the bowl. Store tightly covered in refrigerator for several weeks. Store any leftovers in plastic wrap then plastic bag in freezer for several months. Bring back to room temperature and rebeat.
